Libya 2030 Future Lab: Young Libyans Develop Prototypes for Civic Change
The Libya 2030 Future Lab has successfully concluded its three-phase design thinking program across the western, eastern, and southern regions of Libya. Around 50 highly motivated young participants engaged intensively in workshops to design innovative solutions to pressing civic and societal challenges.
Working in regional groups, participants developed concrete project ideas that address issues such as political participation, educational equity, digital transformation, and community cohesion.
The structured process unfolded in three phases:
- In Phase 1, participants identified and analyzed civic challenges in their regions through empathy-based research.
- In Phase 2, they collaboratively developed creative solutions and turned them into initial prototypes.
- In Phase 3, these prototypes were refined, presented, and received constructive feedback from expert trainers.
The Future Lab generated a diverse range of concepts, including initiatives to strengthen digital participation, improve trust between citizens and institutions, support youth employability, and foster inclusive civic engagement at the local level.
Participants now have the opportunity to further develop and submit their refined prototypes. All projects will be evaluated, and the three most promising ideas will be selected for publication in Libya 2030 Perspectives โ A Publication on Youth Participation, Inclusion, and Pathways to Change. The selected projects will also be presented at the public event in December 2025 in Tripoli, attended by representatives of Libyan civil society, international partners, and diplomatic missions.
The Libya 2030 Future Lab not only produced innovative solutions but also created vital new spaces for dialogue, collaboration, and active civic engagement. It underlines the creativity and determination of Libyaโs young generation and the importance of ensuring that their voices and ideas are both visible and heard.
