Projects
Here we present key initiatives that impressively reflect the commitment, creativity, and expertise of our organization. Each project illustrates the social added value we create through our work in Libya, Germany, and beyond.

Derna Flood Disaster
Libya Emergency Aid
After the devastating flood disaster in Derna, we mobilized a network within a few days, collected donations, and organized emergency aid for the affected communities.

A project funded by ifa and the Federal Foreign Office to strengthen civic participation in Libya. With design thinking workshops, publications, and a national launch event, we promote awareness of democratic processes and political participation, especially among young people and marginalized groups.

We regularly organize exchange formats from discussions with members of the Bundestag to local discussion groups. The focus is on topics such as migration, civil society and diaspora engagement.

About Us
The Libyan German Association was founded by committed members of the Libyan community in Germany with the goal of building bridges between people and strengthening civic engagement across borders. Dialogue, inclusion, and democratic values โโare at the heart of our work.
We are committed to giving Libyan voices a greater voice โ especially those of young people, women, and marginalized groups โ both in Germany and Libya.
Our journey began in September 2023 in response to the devastating flood disaster in Derna. A group of young people from various German cities spontaneously joined forces to provide quick and unbureaucratic assistance. This solidarity action developed into a long-term civil society initiative and ultimately our association.
Today, we are involved in various projects that provide concrete support, strengthen social participation, and work together towards a fairer future for Libya.
