Launch of โ€œLibya 2030โ€: Young voices shaping Libyaโ€™s future through digital dialogue

Hamburg, 26 June 2025 โ€“ Libyan German Association – a civic initiative by Libysche Gemeinde in Deutschland e.V. – has launched a new participatory initiative titled โ€œLibya 2030 โ€“ A Shared Vision for Shaping the Future.โ€ Funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and the zivik programme (ifa), the project creates a digital platform for young people from Tripoli, Benghazi and Sebha to come together and imagine new, inclusive futures for Libya.

The goal is to foster dialogue, creativity and cooperation across regional and political divisions, and to strengthen civil society participation. Through a series of nine online training days between July and September 2025, anparticipants will co-develop local visions for democratic, peaceful and inclusive development in Libya. As part of the project, a magazine will be created to feature stories, reflections, and creative contributions from participants. The magazine will serve as a platform for civic voices from across Libya to share their visions, concerns, and hopes for the future.

โ€œThis project not only gives young Libyans a voice โ€“ it also gives them tools to imagine and shape their society with confidence,โ€
says Isra Mohamed, project manager and initiator of Libya 2030.

The campaign highlights the role of civil society, youth, and marginalized groups in building democracy and promoting active participation.
